Top 20 Rock Countdown - Sept. 4, 2009

Linkin Park still holding their No. 1 spot with New Divide, Pearl Jam with their single “The Fixer” from their album Backspacer holding their No. 2 spot again this week. Alice In Chains made their way on the charts last week coming in at No. 5 but moved up to No. 3 this week with Check My Brain, singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell talked to Billboard about their brief European run in August with a month-long tour in September stateside. Cantrell told Billboard there will be more to follow, they are not going to stop touring when the record comes out, he said “that would be like an old pattern we’re not trying to do again.” Kings of Leon, Panic Switch and Nickelback are holding onto their spots this week, Cavo moved up one spot with Champagne to No. 9 and Godsmack brings their Whiskey Hangover up to No. 10 from No. 12 this week. Breaking Benjamin moved up two spots to No. 14 and Kings of Leon’s second single on the chart moved down to No. 15 from 14 with Notion. After a five year hiatus, Scott Stapp is hopeful that they can prove to their fans the new album “Full Circle” will make a big hit, and giving their audiences the biggest rock show they have ever done, he feels they are better performers and entertainers now and are very confident with their songs. Scott told Billboard “We’re really excited to present where we are today and just be able to stand up and feel that we’re relevant as a band.” Their single Overcome is receiving a lot of air play. Their single Overcome is at No. 17 this week; they have been on the charts for two weeks. Weezer sneaks in at No. 19 this week with their single (If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To.
