Reznor Treats Fans to Free Album Download

Nine Inch Nails fans are enjoying the benefits of digital media as NIN frontman Trent Reznor has made the band's latest album The Slip available for free download on the NIN website.

The first released track, "Echoplex," appeared on ilike.com on Friday, May 5; the remainder of the album can now be streamed on ilike.com for those who care to listen to the tracks before downloading them to their computers or players.

Reznor isn't the first to give away tracks in a downloadable form, however the interactivity of the NIN website boasts a more communal fanbase than most acts enjoy. Reznor encourages fans to download, share, pass off to strangers and even remix the album, and has even made tools available on remix.nin.com. On the remix page, listeners and creative artists alike may upload their remixed tracks, listen to versions created by others and rate and listen to new mixes.

The fans certainly seem to be digging this gift from Reznor, whose accompanying message thanks fans for years of continued support and loyalty. Here are some of the comments left at nin.com:
