Free Jackyl Concert, Bike Night In KC

Well, the title of this post pretty much speaks for itself. But for those of you NOT in the Kansas City Missouri area, all i can say is what a show. Federation of Horsepower opened things up with a slew of axe grinding metal that got the crowd pumped. Shortly after, DJ Johnny Dare of "KQRC 98.9 The Rock" took the stage to thank the crowd for coming out and to introduce one of his best friends Jesse James Dupree and the rest of Jackyl. With a big bottle of Crown Royal in one hand and a bottle of Bud Light in the other, Jesse James took the stage and a few drinks of each before ripping into a few of their known songs including "I Stand Alone", "Down On Me", and "Dirty Little Mind" to name a few. The music stops momentarily so Jesse can speak again. He mentions the fact that his good buddies AC/DC will be in town across the street at the Sprint Center on October 8, 2009. They then broke out with "Locked and Loaded". And it rocked! Then Jesse James harrassed the local PD, "I needa KC Police Officer plzzzz." "Someone get me a Kansas City Police Officer!." He then spots an officer in the distance, "Lemme shoot your gun just ONE time!". "OK, then lemme wear ya badge, cmon i got a wardrobe malfunction goin on up here!." All he was wearing was one of those old timer "onesies" with the back flap open. It was hilarious. And the ladies loved it. Then came the time for the happy birthday to Johnny Dare song. Jesse James forced the Crown Royal onto Johnny Dare. Another highlight of the show. They continued to rock KC for another hour or so before Jesse did a rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" on the guitar with his teeth. When the patriotic moment concluded, Jess James then revealed the ever so famous CHAIN SAW and out came a roadie with a bar stool. That's when it got "bluesey" with "The Lumberjack" song. The sound of the chain saw in the microphone was all it took for the crowd to erupt once again. The bar stool was shredded as the saw dust flew everywhere.(Still has some of the evidnece in my hair actually). Jesse took pieces of the demolished bar stool and tossed it in the crowd. I had my hands on the biggest piece of lumber but was overpowered by a mob of crazed fans. It wasn't worth suffering injuries. I did manage to escape with a few guitar picks with a facsimile autograph of Jesse James. To sum things up, it was a great show. My 4th time seeing them and they rocked as good as ever. I strongly recommend a Jackyl show if you haven't had the chance. I also managed to get 2 free tickets to Texas Hippie Coalition show on 9.11.09 in Merriam, KS after i mentioned i was a DJ for internet radio station named NetWavz. That blog post should be just as interesting. So stay tuned. Well, that about wraps it up for this "Hammer of the Gods" report. Until next time, ROCK ON!
