Dave Matthews Sax Player LeRoi Moore Died Tuesday

At 46 years old and preparing to start rehab from an auto injury in June, it seemed Dave Matthews Band Saxophone player LeRoi Moore was recovering quite nicely from the accident. However on Sunday night, the late sax player was admitted to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles due to unknown complications.

Moore had originally been hospitalized in late June in Charlottesville, NC following an accident on his farm in an all-terrain vehicle on June 30.

His admittance to the hospital on Sunday night and his untimely death on Tuesday were both wholly unexpected.

Since his auto accident, Jeff Coffin of Bela Flec and The Flecktones had been sitting in for the recovering saxist, and played with the band at their show at the Staples Center in Anaheim, CA on Tuesday night.

Moore, Matthews and drummer Carter Beauford formed the band in 1991, and have developed quite the extensive discography in their 18 year tenure, including eight studio albums, two independents, 10 live releases and one compilation. The Dave Matthews band has also been the recipient of numerous accolades over the years, including nominations for 12 Grammy's with one won, and recieving four My VH1 awards among miscellaneous others.
